Thank you for joining us for the Sankofa Film Institute film workshop Opening Night! We are excited to share this special event with you. To ensure a fun and safe experience for all, we’ve outlined key safety protocols. Your cooperation helps us maintain a secure environment for everyone.
Fire Safety Guidelines
Safe Distance:
Maintain a distance of at least 15 feet from the bonfire at all times, unless directed otherwise by event staff. This distance will be clearly marked by cones, ropes, or signage.
Refrain from crowding near the fire to allow everyone to enjoy it safely.
Proper Attire:
Avoid wearing loose-fitting or flowing clothing, including long scarves or capes, which could catch fire.
Do not wear synthetic fabrics like polyester near the fire, as they can melt if exposed to heat or sparks.
Ensure that scarves, coats with long belts, and similar items are secured and tied back.
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots to protect against stray embers or sparks.
Behavior Around the Fire:
Running, roughhousing, or any disruptive behavior near the fire is strictly prohibited.
Do not throw any items—wood, trash, or anything else—into the fire, as it can cause dangerous flare-ups.
Keep personal belongings such as bags, blankets, and jackets away from the fire zone.
Emergency Procedures:
Event staff trained in first aid will be on-site. In the event of a burn or injury, immediately notify a staff member for assistance.
If your clothing catches fire, Stop, Drop, and Roll to extinguish the flames.
